Vol. 219 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Offaly River.

27.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is now in a position to say when drainage work will be carried out on the Ballyfinboy river on the border of Tipperary and Offaly, which is of great concern to the landowners in both counties whose lands are subject to serious flooding from this river; if he will now cause special action to be taken in this matter; and if he will see that it will be given priority in view of the special circumstances of the case.

I am not in a position to say when the Ballyfinboy catchment can be dealt with under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. Owing to the extent of present commitments and the many other drainage problems throughout the country it is not possible to give it special priority.
