28.

asked the Minister for Local Government what steps will be taken within the next year on foot of the recommendations in the recently published Dublin traffic plan.

I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 26, 27, 28 and 29 together.

The report of the traffic consultant on a general traffic plan for Dublin, which was commissioned by Dublin Corporation, is at present under examination by that body. It is a matter in the first instance for the corporation to decide on the steps to be taken arising out of their consideration of the report.

As I have already indicated in my reply to Deputy Moore on the 20th ultimo, I am most anxious to assist the corporation and the other road authorities concerned in their consideration of the complex issues arising from the report and recommendations of the traffic consultant and the discussions at official level requested by the corporation will take place at an early date. The various matters raised in these questions will receive attention in the course of the consideration of the report.
