Vol. 219 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Entertainment Admission Charges.

43.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether entertainment admission charges are governed by price control; and if he proposes to take action in connection with recent increases in admission charges to some dancehalls and cinemas.

I am advised that there is power under the Prices Acts to control entertainment admission charges.

I have no information about recent increases in admission charges to dancehalls but a recent price increase by certain cinemas is being investigated.

The Minister does not dance—much.

(Interruptions.)

Would the Minister say whether he will be interested in dancehalls or in bread and butter next? We have already got drink reduced.

These alternatives are not in my mind. It is only on that side of the House that they have been equated.

The Minister believes if they cannot get bread they should eat cake.

Again, this is said on that side of the House, I have not said any of those things.

Order. I have called Question No. 44.
