Vol. 219 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Court Moneys.

62.

asked the Minister for Justice the reasons for delays in the accountant's office in the High Court in paying out money lodged in court; if he is aware that such delays are a cause of annoyance to the public and the legal profession; and if steps will be taken to expedite the working of that office.

I am satisfied that there is no undue delay on the part of the accountant's office in the High Court in paying out moneys lodged in court where applications for payment are in order.

I am informed that such delays as do occur, arise in cases where documents that are required by the Rules of the Superior Courts to be lodged with an application are incorrect or incomplete and have to be returned for amendment or completion.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
