Vol. 219 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - American Airlines Flights into Dublin.

16.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if a decision has yet been reached on the application of the American Government requesting landing rights at Dublin Airport for United States airlines; and, if so, the nature of the decision.

17.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will now make a statement on the outcome of the recent discussions on the question of granting permission to the American airlines to fly into Dublin.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions Nos. 16 and 17 together. As the Deputies are by now no doubt aware, the Government have decided that the request by the Government of the United States for permission for their airlines to operate to Dublin cannot be granted.
