Vol. 219 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Housing Needs.

82.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the Cork County Council made a survey of the housing needs of Bandon, County Cork in 1965; and, if so, what were the findings.

A comprehensive survey of housing needs in Bandon was not made this year. I understand, however, that, early in the year, the council invited applications from persons in the area who were in need of rehousing, that 18 applications were received and that a scheme is being formulated on the basis of these applications.

83.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the Cork County Council made the last housing survey in Millstreet, County Cork; and the findings of that survey.

I understand that no comprehensive housing survey has been made in the Millstreet area in recent years. A survey of unfit houses, which was carried out in 1961, revealed 45 unfit dwellings in the former Millstreet rural district. 24 of these dwellings were considered incapable of economic repair.
