Vol. 219 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Applications.

155.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs how many are on the waiting list for telephones in (a) County Leitrim and (b) County Sligo; and when he expects to have those lists cleared.

The numbers are 80 and 215, including 40 and 55 respectively for whom installation arrangements are at present in hand.

It is planned to offer service before the end of this financial year to all pre-1964 applicants and to as many as possible of the others on the list. The cases still remaining will be attended to when the older applications have been cleared.

156.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state in respect of Tipperary South Riding (a) the total number of telephone installations, (b) the number of new installations provided annually during the past five years, (c) the number of applicants at present awaiting telephone installations, and (d) the length of time these applicants have been waiting for a telephone.

The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to include in the Official Report.
