asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state in respect of last year or the nearest available 12 months' period the number of American citizens (a) who visited this country, and (b) who travelled to Ireland (i) via Irish International Airlines, and (ii) via other airlines, the number of flights by Irish International Airlines from America to Ireland and the total number of seats available on these flights, and the number of flights by other airlines to Ireland from America and the total number of seats available.

The information in so far as it is available is as follows:— (a) It is estimated that 130,000 citizens of the United States visited this country in 1965; (b) statistics of US citizens carried by (i) the Irish airline and (ii) other airlines are not recorded. It is estimated that 57,000 US citizens travelled direct by air to this country in 1965; (c) the number of scheduled flights by the Irish airline from the United States to Ireland in 1965 was 500 with a seat availability of 72,500; and (d) the number of such flights by other airlines was 424 with a seat availability of 58,327.

(Dublin) asked the Minister for Transport and Power what are the relevant numbers and the estimated value of the tourist traffic which Irish airlines carried inwards and outwards over the five year period 1960 to 1965.

The statistics of traffic carried by the Irish Airlines do not distinguish between tourist and other traffic and accordingly the information requested by the Deputy is not available.
