Vol. 220 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointments in Department of Justice.

52.

asked the Minister for Justice whether any persons are employed in his Department in a permanent or temporary capacity as private secretaries or personal assistants who were appointed otherwise than by open competition under the auspices of the Civil Service Commissioners; and, if so, if he will state the name and address of each such person and his salary, duties and terms and duration of appointment.

One person in the category in question is employed as my Personal Assistant. She is Mrs. Mairéad McNally of "Shelvin", South Strand, Skerries, County Dublin.

The salary attaching to the post is £920 a year. The duties are such as may be assigned by me from time to time as appropriate to the appointment. The appointment, which is unestablished and non-pensionable, may be terminated at any time by one week's notice on either side.
