asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of applicants for housing accommodation in Dún Laoghaire Borough; and the number of such applicants approved as eligible for accommodation.

asked the Minister for Local Government what proposals are before his Department for additional houses in the Dún Laoghaire Borough; and when sanction will issue for these houses.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 8 and 9 together.

I understand that Dún Laoghaire Corporation received 550 applications for rehousing and that 340 applicants are regarded as in need of rehousing.

A proposal to accept a tender for a 26 house scheme at Newtownpark Avenue is before my Department at present and I hope to give a decision on it shortly. A proposal to acquire a site at Loughlinstown which could accommodate up to 400 houses was received early last month and is under examination.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of applicants in the Rathdown area who have applied to the Dublin County Council for housing accommodation; and the number of applicants in the same area who have been approved by the County Council as eligible for housing accommodation.

asked the Minister for Local Government what proposals are before his Department from the County Council for additional houses in the Rathdown area; and when sanction will issue.

I understand that Dublin County Council received 437 applications for rehousing from persons in the Rathdown area and that 391 of the applicants are regarded as in need of rehousing.

Revised plans for a scheme of 108 houses, eight flats for elderly persons, and 32 private sites at Cabinteely were received in my Department this week and are being examined. A decision will be given as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the additional houses under construction by Dublin County Council at Shankill will be completed.

I understand that the 62 houses in course of erection by Dublin County Council at Shankill should be completed by next September.
