Vol. 221 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glenties (Donegal) Comprehensive School.

37.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to build the new comprehensive school at Glenties, County Donegal; and the number of students which will be catered for therein.

The plans for the new comprehensive school at Glenties, County Donegal, are at present being examined by the Commissioners of Public Works. When the plans have been approved, specifications will be prepared and bills of quantities taken out. At this stage of planning, therefore, I am not in a position to state when building work will be commenced. It is proposed to provide accommodation in the new school for a minimum of 350 pupils.

Could the Minister say from within what limits these pupils will be drawn and from what age groups?

Geographical limits?

Yes, and age limits.

Approximately ten miles radius from Glenties. The age group is expected to be ultimately 12 plus, but in the early stages, it will probably be rather later than that.
