Vol. 221 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Condition of Ballymun Lane.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will ensure that Balbutcher Lane, Ballymun, County Dublin, which has been rendered impassable as a result of the building operations being carried out on behalf of the National Building Agency, is put into a serviceable condition; that the two farmers whose premises are served by this lane are not obstructed in conducting their normal business; and that they are compensated for the losses they have already suffered.

I am aware that Balbutcher Lane has been damaged as a result of abnormal weather conditions and traffic, which have created difficulties for the farmers in question. I understand that Dublin Corporation have requested from the county council the necessary approval to re-alignment of the roadway arising from the detailed planning of the area. Pending clarification of this aspect, I have asked the National Building Agency to examine what remedial action might be taken as a temporary measure to relieve the inconvenience resulting from the present condition of the roadway.
