Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a proposal from Kerry County Council to extend the Abbeydoney-Kilflynn piped water supply to Crotta, Lixnaw; and, if so, what is the present position regarding this extension.

There are no proposals for a water supply extension to Crotta, Lixnaw, before my Department.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will explain the cause of the delay in granting approval for the extension of a piped water supply to the Newcastle area, County Wicklow; and if, in view of the urgent need for this scheme, he will take steps to approve it immediately.

Tenders for a water supply extension from Killadreenan to Newcastle are at present under examination. I hope to convey a decision thereon to Wicklow County Council shortly.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government when water and sewerage services will be made available at Clonsilla, County Dublin; and if he will state, in view of the urgent need which exists for accommodation in this district, when council houses will be provided there, and the prospective location thereof.

I understand that there is an existing water supply in Clonsilla. I am not in a position to say when sewerage services will be available. I am informed by Dublin County Council that provision for sewerage services for this area is to be made in the proposed North County Dublin Drainage Scheme which is at present in the early planning stages.

A site for the erection of 94 houses has been acquired by the council at Coolmine, Clonsilla. The submission of plans for this scheme is awaited in my Department.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government when services will be made available at Larch Grove, Clonsilla, County Dublin.

There is no information in my Department regarding this matter. I am, however, having inquiries made and if the Deputy will repeat his question in a fortnight's time, I may have the information.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position regarding the proposed extension of the sewerage scheme at Derra East, Listowel, County Kerry; and if he will take steps to ensure that this scheme is carried out with the least possible delay.

I understand that Kerry County Council are at present preparing a report on the extent and probable cost of a sewerage extension to Derra East.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department received a proposal from Kerry County Council to carry out a sewerage scheme at Ventry, County Kerry; and what is the present position regarding this proposed scheme.

There are no proposals for a sewerage scheme for Ventry before my Department. I understand, that Kerry County Council are at present preparing a preliminary report on the scheme.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to make a statement in regard to the water and sewerage extensions at Banagher, County Offaly as over 30 houses in the town have no water or sewerage facilities; and what is the cause of the delay in dealing with this urgent and important matter.

I have been informed by the Offaly County Council that due to difficulties being experienced in maintaining the existing water supply at a satisfactory standard it has been necessary to re-examine the scheme of extensions as originally proposed. This examination has not yet been completed.

Contract documents for the sewerage proposals are under examination in my Department.
