Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Adaptation Grants.

51.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of industrial firms which have responded to the appeals for adaptation and modernisation by the CIO and by the Government as shown by their use of the special adaptation grants, and the number of industries which have set up adaptation committees.

Up to 31st December, 1965, 590 applications for grants and loans in respect of industrial adaptation proposals representing a capital investment of over £55 million had been made by industry. Twenty-three adaptation councils have been established to cater for industries which were surveyed by the CIO or the Industrial Reorganisation Branch of my Department.
