Vol. 221 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish National Productivity Committee.

37.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the manner in which the Cork Committee of the Irish National Productivity Committee was set up; and if he will give details of any expenditure incurred by his Department in respect of this Committee.

I understand that the Cork Regional Committee of the Irish National Productivity Committee was set up by the Irish National Productivity Committee with the co-operation of organisations representing management, trade unions, commerce and education in Cork.

I am informed that expenses of the Cork Regional Committee are being met by the Irish National Productivity Committee whose principal source of income is a State grant-in-aid. No expenditure has been incurred directly by my Department in respect of the regional committee.

How much is the grant-in-aid?

The grant-in-aid for the coming year is £180,000.

Has there been any improvement in recent years in the amount given?

I have not got the figures for a number of years back.
