Vol. 221 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decimal Currency.

8.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of the change over to decimal coinage in Britain and Ireland's intention of following this course, any compensation will be given to those business enterprises who may be involved in the installation of new equipment.

The question of whether, and if so, how far, assistance will be provided from public sources towards the cost of the conversion or replacement of machines in connection with a change-over to decimal curreny will be dealt with when a definite decision as to the basic unit is being announced in a few months' time.
