Vol. 222 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butt Bridge Traffic Lights.

7.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that yet more accidents have occurred at the junction of Butt Bridge and Eden Quay; and whether Dublin Corporation have yet decided on a date for installation of traffic lights.

The traffic lights which Dublin Corporation propose to provide at this junction are part of a scheme for an integrated system of traffic lights between Pearse Street and Lower Abbey Street, and I understand that it will be some time, perhaps 12 months, before such a system can be brought into operation. However, I will have a copy of the Deputy's question referred to Dublin Corporation.

Mr. O'Leary

I would be obliged if the Parliamentary Secretary would assure me that the installation of these traffic lights will be included in the integrated system of traffic lights to which he has referred. The fact is I witnessed a very severe accident there only one week ago. This is an extremely bad point for traffic.
