asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give an assurance to manufacturers in the Republic of Ireland that the preferential rates of duty envisaged for goods of Northern Ireland origin will not apply to goods produced by firms of foreign origin now operating in Northern Ireland.

The Deputy will have seen from the recent announcement that the special tariff concessions will apply to Northern Ireland products manufactured by firms which were engaged in manufacturing the same products in Northern Ireland on 1st March, 1966.
