Vol. 223 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delvin (Westmeath) School.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the fact that plans etc. for the erection of a new school at Gehanstown, Archerstown PO, Delvin, County Westmeath have been approved for a considerable time, he is now in a position to state when building will commence.

Discussions have been proceeding between my Department and the Reverend Manager of Gehanstown national school as to how the primary schooling requirements of Gehanstown and other areas in the parish of Clonmellon might best be met. It is hoped to bring this matter to the stage shortly when firm proposals can be put forward.

Would the Minister say if he has been asked to receive a deputation representing the parents and Deputies of the area regarding this school?

I have been asked to meet a deputation representing the Deputies and Senators by Deputy Tully.

Will the Minister agree that the matter will be fully discussed on Thursday of this week?

I hope so.
