Financial Resolution No. 1: Customs and Excise—Hydrocarbon Oils.

I move:

(1) That as on and from the 15th day of June, 1966, there shall be charged, levied and paid a duty of customs at the rate of 1 19/20d the gallon on mineral hydrocarbon light oil chargeable with the duty mentioned in section 1 of the Finance (Customs Duties) (No. 4) Act, 1931 (No. 43 of 1931).

(2) That as on and from the 15th day of June, 1966, there shall be charged, levied and paid a duty of excise at the rate of 1 19/20d the gallon on mineral hydrocarbon light oil chargeable with the duty mentioned in section 1 of the Finance (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1935 (No. 7 of 1935).

(3) That delivery free of duty or repayment of the duty or drawback of the duty mentioned in paragraph (1) or paragraph (2) of this Resolution may be allowed in any circumstances in which such relief is being granted in respect of the duty imposed by section 1 of the Finance (Customs Duties) (No. 4) Act, 1931, or the duty imposed by section 1 of the Finance (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1935, by virtue of a provision in any act or instrument.

(4) That there shall be charged, levied and paid as on and from the 15th day of June, 1966, a duty of customs or excise, as the case may be, at the rate of 1 19/20d the gallon in respect of hydrocarbon oil chargeable with the duties mentioned in section 21 of the Finance Act, 1935 (No. 28 of 1935).

(5) That where repayment of a duty of customs or excise mentioned in section 21 of the Finance Act, 1935, is allowable on hydrocarbon oil under section 10 of the Finance Act, 1957 (No. 20 of 1957), an additional repayment of 2d the gallon shall be allowed on such oil on which payment of the duty provided by paragraph 4 of this Resolution has been paid.

(6) That, except as provided for in paragraph (5) of this Resolution, delivery free of the duty or repayment of the duty or rebate of the duty of customs or excise, as the case may be, mentioned in paragraph (4) of this Resolution may be allowed in any circumstances in which such relief is being granted in respect of the duty of customs or excise, as the case may be, imposed by section 21 of the Finance Act, 1935, by virtue of a provision in any act or instrument.

(7) That the duties imposed by this Resolution shall be in addition to and not in substitution for any other duties chargeable in respect of hydrocarbon oils.

(8) It is hereby declared that it is expedient in the public interest that this Resolution shall have statutory effect under the provisions of the Provisional Collection of Taxes Act, 1927 (No. 7 of 1927).
