asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the last 12 months the number of applications received for disability benefit, the number of applications received more than seven days after commencement of illness and rejected accordingly in whole or in part, and the number of such late applications in respect of which an extension of time was given for giving notice of incapacity.

The number of applications for disability benefit received in the twelve months ended 31st May, 1966 was 147,029. Records which would enable the other information sought in the question to be obtained are not kept in my Department.
