asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the sum of £33,000 allocated to Kildare County Council for sanitary and miscellaneous services capital works for 1966-67 will be virtually entirely expended on works actually in progress or completed; and whether he will therefore make a further allocation to enable other work to be started.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Capital Works.
The allocations made to sanitary authorities generally, including Kildare County Council, for sanitary and miscellaneous services capital works for 1966-67 are intended to meet expenditure arising within the year on works in progress and for which loans are available. Pending a general re-assessment of the position later in the year, I am unable to indicate what allocations if any will be made for new works.
Can the Minister say at this stage what allocation will be made in 1967-68 so that the council can plan their acceptance of contracts accordingly?
I am afraid I could not give the Deputy that information.
Without that information, how could the council safely enter into any contract?
That is a matter which, as I say, on further review, will probably be more clear to them.
Until that review takes place, they can do nothing more. That is the point.
