Vol. 224 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Estate.

48.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission are aware that the Shanley Estate, Larkfield, County Roscommon has been offered for public auction; and that there are many very small holdings adjoining this farm on which families are trying to eke out an existence; and, if so, whether it is proposed to acquire this land for the purpose of ameliorating the circumstances of some of these families.

The Land Commission had been interested in this 62 acre property but the information before them in August last was that a sale had been arranged at an auction. It is now gathered that the sale has not been concluded and the Land Commission have arranged to re-investigate the matter.
