Vol. 224 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Wandering Horses.

35.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the annoyance caused to residents of Tipperary town and district by wandering horses; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to remedy this situation.

I understand that the Garda were thanked by Tipperary Urban District Council on 13th September for their assistance in dealing with wandering animals. So far, this year, 25 persons have been prosecuted for obstruction of traffic caused by wandering animals and the Garda impounded horses found wandering on six occasions.

The Garda cannot intervene save where animals are found on the public roads but they have given as much assistance as possible to the urban district council and to private persons in the matter of identifying the owners of trespassing animals.
