Vol. 224 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Export Trade Expansion.

3.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if his Department have any plans under consideration at present for the opening of new Missions in any country or countries with which this country does not at present have diplomatic relations, with a view to expanding the export trade or for any other reason; and, if so, what countries are involved in such plans.

The question whether our export trade or other interests render desirable the extension of our diplomatic representation abroad is reviewed from time to time. The Deputy will appreciate, however, that, as the setting up of a new Mission involves another Government, it is not possible to say in advance of a decision being taken and agreed with the other Government concerned what plans may be under consideration.
