Vol. 225 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Earnings of Industrial Workers.

1.

asked the Taoiseach the figure for the average weekly earnings of industrial workers.

The average weekly earnings of industrial workers engaged in industries producing transportable goods was 232s. 7d. in mid-June, 1966, which is the latest date for which this information is at present available.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary say if this figure includes overtime, bonuses, etc.?

It represents the average weekly earnings, including men, women and juveniles.

It is about £11 a week, in other words.

The Deputy should appreciate that it includes men, women, boys and girls. They are industrial workers.

The Taoiseach is trying to confuse the issue now. I am not confusing it at all. It is £11 a week, including bonuses, overtime and everything else, as an average.
