asked the Taoiseach the number of registered boat building yards in Ireland for each of the years 1961 to 1965; the number of employees in these yards; and their production in numbers and categories of craft in each of these years (i) for the home market and (ii) for export.

The number of ship building yards registered in the Offices of the Revenue Commissioners under section 37 of the Finance Act, 1932, in the State at the end of each of the years 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965 was 27, 26, 26, 29 and 31 respectively. Particulars of the numbers of employees and numbers of boats built are not collected by the Revenue Commissioners for registered ship-building yards.

The following particulars of employment and production in establishments engaged in ship and boat building and repairing and particulars of exports of ships and boats are derived from the records in the Central Statistics Office for each of the years 1961 to 1965 in so far as data are available:—
