Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Howth Housing.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the great need for corporation housing in Howth, Dublin; the number of applicants awaiting housing there; and when they will be housed.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that there are at present 15 applicants from the Howth, Sutton and Baldoyle areas on their approved waiting list for rehousing and that they are examining tenders which were received recently for 22 houses at Howth. I am not in a position at this stage to say when these dwellings will be available for letting.

Is the Minister aware there are up to 70 applicants for houses in Howth, that many of them are living in unsuitable conditions, that many of them are engaged in the fishing industry and that it is desirable he should take the matter up with the City MOH?

My information is that there are only 15 applicants on the approved waiting list for houses in those areas.
