Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Housing Subsidies.

74.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, having regard to the firm wish of the members of the Dublin city council to introduce a tenant purchase scheme for the council's tenanted houses, he will ensure that all housing subsidies currently paid on such houses will be paid in future.

Housing subsidy is intended to enable persons of limited means to be provided with housing at rents which they can afford. As indicated on previous occasions it has not been the practice to continue to pay subsidy when houses are sold.
