Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Skerries Foreshore.

86.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps to have the stones which now disfigure the foreshore at Skerries, County Dublin, removed or used in the present coastal erosion prevention works.

The matter is primarily one for the local authority. I am informed by the Dublin County Council that the removal of stones from the foreshore would aggravate coastal erosion problems.

I was not referring to the stones to be found on beaches but to the remains of ruined walls which are there and which could be used in the construction work which I understand is in progress to prevent coastal erosion. Would he re-examine this matter now because it is a subject of some considerable representations from the residents in this area?

I will take the matter up further with the county council.
