Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Relations.

100.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of organisations he has consulted with to date in regard to the proposed legislation on industrial relations and trade union law; the names of the organisations consulted and the names of those which he intends to consult in the future; and if reports of these consultations will be made available to the House.

Either personally, or through my officials, I have consulted the following organisations:—

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions, to which nearly 90 unions are affiliated.

The County and City Managers' Association.

The Irish Local Government Officials Union.

The Irish Conference of Professional and Service Associations.

The Federated Union of Employers and associated employer organisations.

In response to requests, I have informed the Incorporated Law Society and the Federation of Professional Associations that my officials will be prepared to discuss the proposals with them.

It is not intended that reports of these consultations will be made available to the House.
