Vol. 225 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Duties of Ban Ghardaí.

21.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is satisfied that members of the ban ghardaí are being employed to the greatest possible degree in cases concerning young people and women, in particular, and that they are not being engaged in duties which could better be carried out by male members of the Garda Síochána.

Ban ghardaí are recruited for general police duties but they are primarily engaged in cases concerning women and young people. I have been assured that they are being employed to the greatest possible degree on these cases.
