Vol. 225 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Dairy Publicity Council.

9.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he can indicate the progress made by the National Dairy Publicity Council during the current year; and if the Council has any plans for a more intensive campaign during the coming year.

The current publicity campaign by the National Dairy Publicity Council which began in April, 1966, is aimed principally at encouraging increased domestic consumption of cheese but is also directed towards increasing consumption of liquid milk, cream and butter. Particulars in respect of the consumption of these products in 1966 will not be available for some time but the information at present available regarding cheese indicates that home consumption, which increased significantly in 1965, will show a still greater increase in 1966.

Proposals for the council's 1967-68 publicity campaign will in due course be considered by the council in the light of the results of the current campaign.
