Vol. 226 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sick Pay for State Agricultural Employees.

19.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is in a position to outline the outcome of the examination of a sick-pay scheme for agricultural employees of his Department, referred to in a reply of 12th May, 1966.

This matter is under active consideration in consultation with other Departments concerned and should soon be finalised.

Surely the Minister is not serious when he says that the matter is under active consideration, in view of the fact that, on 12th May, 1966, his predecessor gave exactly the same reply, or almost exactly the same reply, to a question asked?

The word "active" was not used. The words used were "under consideration".

Almost exactly.

Do not mislead me. That is not the reply I gave but I do say that this is under active consideration, and I seriously say that to the Deputy.

Will the Minister say that there will be a favourable decision in future?

I say that there will be a decision.
