Vol. 226 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Housing Loans.

35.

Mr. Belton

asked the Minister for Local Government when Dublin Corporation propose to resume granting loans to purchasers of previously occupied houses.

It was suggested to the corporation and other housing authorities by circular letter of 22nd March, 1966, advising them of their housing capital allocation for 1966-67, that loans for previously occupied houses should only be made where a need for rehousing is established which would fall to be met by the housing authority. It is a matter for each authority to decide, in the light of this suggestion and their capital allocation, the extent to which they will make loans for these houses. I understand that the corporation, in fact, make loans for previously-occupied houses to persons on their approved waiting list who are due to be rehoused within 12 months.

Question No. 36 postponed.
