Vol. 226 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Tourist Amenities.

7.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what plans are available or in the course of preparation for the future development of tourist amenities in Dún Laoghaire.

The provision of financial assistance towards the development of amenities at tourist resorts is a statutory function of Bord Fáilte and the plans for development schemes are drawn up by the Board in consultation with the appropriate local authorities and other interests. In the case of Dún Laoghaire, I am informed by the Board that there have been consultations with Dún Laoghaire Corporation and that the corporation commissioned a report from a consultant architect on the improvement of the seafront between the East Pier and Sandycove Harbour. I understand that this report was completed and submitted to the Corporation last year.
