Vol. 226 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ceiling for SDA Advances.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will introduce legislation to review the ceiling for advances under the Small Dwellings Acts with a view to its abolition, or in the alternative the substantial raising of the ceiling, and to provide that applications will be considered without regard to ground rents.

The maximum loan limits applicable to local authority house-purchase loans were last increased in June, 1965, and are kept under continous review. An increase in the limits, which would result in the available capital financing fewer houses, is not at present contemplated.

So far as I am aware, the amount of the ground rent charged is no longer being taken into consideration by housing authorities in the making of house purchase loans.
