Vol. 226 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aran Islands Harbour Improvement.

70.

asked the Minister for Finance when work on the improvement and extension of Kilronan Harbour, Aran Islands, will commence the nature of these improvements; and the estimated cost.

The revised scheme of improvements at Kilronan comprises the extension of the existing pier and the construction of an elbow at the end of the extension and at right angles to it. The work will be started as soon as the arrangements, which are at present in train, for the placing of a contract are completed.

Is the elbow to cater for the trawlermen?

The proposed addition to the pier is being made after consultation with the fishermen who will use the pier.

It was accepted then?

I am sorry to disappoint the Deputy.

I am not a bit disappointed. Eight years ago, before the Parliamentary Secretary came into the House, I asked about this. You will soon run out of answers.
