Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Education if any consultants such as architects, structural and mechanical engineers or quantity surveyors have yet been appointed for the erection of the Cork regional technical college; if so, if he will give details of the appointments; if any changes are proposed in such appointments; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr. O'Malley

The City of Cork Vocational Education Committee have appointed architects, structural and mechanical engineers, and a quantity surveyor for the provision of a regional technical college in Cork.

Details of the appointments are as follows:

Architects: Mr. E.P. O'Flynn. F.R.I.A.I. of Messrs. O'Flynn and Green.

Consultant Mechanical Engineer: Mr. B.K. Reilly, B.E., A.M.I.C.E.I., Messrs. Varming, Mulcahy Reilly Associates.

Consultant Structural Engineer: Mr. John O'Donovan, B.E., A.M.I.C.E., A.M.I.C.E.I., Cork, and Mr. J.H. Harbison, B.E., M.I.C.E.I., of Messrs. Ove Arup and Partners, Dublin.

Quantity Surveyor: Mr. James Sheehan, F.R.I.C.S.

I have received no proposal from the committee to make any changes in these appointments.

I have arranged that Building Design Associates will act as consultants in connection with the provision of the College.
