Vol. 226 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly School Units.

93.

asked the Minister for Education if he will arrange that the locally produced prefabricated concrete structure from a firm (name supplied) be used for the provision of an extra unit in both Birr and Banagher schools, having regard to the excellent quality and high standard of this product; and if he will give sanction so that this work can be put in hands at an early date.

Mr. O'Malley

Pending consideration, at a meeting to be held at local level on 21st February, 1967 of the educational plan for County Offaly, which has recently been issued by the Development Branch of my Department to the County Offaly Vocational Education Committee and other interested parties, it is not possible to approve of permanent extensions to Birr and Banagher vocational schools. The committee have been so informed and have agreed in the case of Birr vocational school to provide a prefabricated (wooden) extension as suggested by my Department.
