Vol. 227 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supplies.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if any proposals have been submitted to him by Donegal County Council for a public water supply for the seaside resort of Rosbeg, Portnoo, County Donegal; and, if so, what is the present position of this project.

No proposals have been received in my Department for the provision of a water supply to Rosbeg, Portnoo, County Donegal.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in paying grants towards the group water scheme at Clonturk, Dromard, Rooskeynamona, and Rooskey, County Leitrim.

There has been no delay in the payment of the grants approved for the schemes at Clonturk, Dromard and Rooskey. The inquiries now being made as to whether farmers to whom grants are due for payment have paid their rates have delayed the payment of grants in the case of Rooskeynamona scheme.

That is complete balderdash. These people wrote to me on 3rd March, 1967, to the effect that they had written several times to the Department of Local Government stating that the scheme was completed. The houses were passed last May. We are now told that there has been no delay in the payments of the grants approved for the schemes at Clonturk, Dromard and Rooskey. Why will the Minister not answer the question truthfully?

That is the position.
