Vol. 227 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Telephone Kiosks.

9.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the need for public telephone kiosks at Keyes Park and Kennedy Park, Limerick; and why they have not been provided for the benefit of the residents there.

A kiosk will probably be required at Keyes Park when the estate is further developed and its natural centre determined. This matter will be kept under review.

For the present it is considered that the public telephone requirements of Kennedy Park are adequately met by the kiosk at Janesboro.

There are now 420 houses in this park and surely it is not expected that these people should have to walk three or four miles to the public telephone kiosk at Janesboro?

The question relates to two parks. Which one is the Deputy speaking about?

The two are adjacent.

The Janesboro telephone kiosk is within 200 yards of Kennedy Park, and there is no question of walking a mile or half a mile.

It is two miles from Keyes Park.

I have said that we believe there will shortly be a necessity for a kiosk at Keyes Park, as soon as the natural centre is determined.
