Vol. 229 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Adult Education.

37.

asked the Minister for Education if he will consider the provision of moneys for the furtherance of adult education, as distinct from the help given to vocational education committees and day courses at universities.

Mr. O'Malley

Provision is made in Vote 27—Office of the Minister for Education—for payment of grants-in-aid of the current financial year 1967-68 to the College of Industrial Relations and the Dublin Institute of Adult Education in respect of adult education courses. The total provision of £4,000 is £500 greater than in 1966-67. Expenses in connection with adult education courses conducted by the university colleges may be met from the grants for general purposes made from Vote 32 but, in accordance with the general policy pertaining to such grants, no particular amounts are earmarked for this separate purpose.
