Vol. 229 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Parliamentary Representation.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether, as a result of the recent population survey and the disproportionate ratio between parliamentary representation and constituency population, extra representation will be given to the Dublin area; and if he will indicate the period within which this could be done.

I would refer the Deputy to the replies to previous similar questions on 27th September, 1966 and 6th April, 1967.

Will the Minister state if there will be any such revision of constituencies before the constitutional period is up and would he suggest that the recent election results will speed it up?

The last revision was in 1960 and according to the Constitution, another revision must be carried out within 12 years.
