Vol. 229 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Death Duties.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount collected in death duties in the past ten years.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

*The term Estate, etc., Duties covers Estate Duty (including Probate and Account Duty), Legacy Duty, Succession Duty and Corporation Duty.

I thought the Minister could give it to me in one figure and not ten.

The amount collected in the past ten years was £35,414,455. In an endeavour to be helpful to the Deputy, I am giving him separate figures.

It is fairly constant each year? Does it vary much?

It has gone up from £2.6 million in 1958 to £4.6 million in 1967.
