Vol. 229 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medical Examination of Civil Service Candidates.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance why parents in Nenagh are being put to the unnecessary expense of having to send their children for medical examination to a doctor in Limerick in connection with the 1967 competition for clerk-typist (clerical), while there are at least ten medical doctors in practice in Nenagh any one of whom would be qualified to undertake such examination; and if he will take immediate steps to allow these children to be examined in Nenagh, and thus avoid the necessity for them to travel to Limerick.

Heretofore, these medical examinations have been held in Dublin only. This year, as an experiment, it was decided to have some of them carried out at certain provincial centres as this would be less expensive for the candidates. Limerick was the nearest of these centres for candidates resident in the Nenagh area.
