Vol. 230 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aer Lingus Revenue.

17.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if his attention has been drawn to a statement made in Aer Scéala by the General Manager of Aer Lingus that the company's revenue was expected to drop about £500,000 below target figures this year; the cause of the company's setbacks this year; and if he will make a general statement having regard to the gloomy forecast of the General Manager.

I have seen the statement. It sets out the causes of the expected drop in budgeted revenue, viz. internal conditions in Britain and the trend towards motoring holidays. These factors have also affected the revenue of other airlines. The statement also sets out the measures being taken to maintain the company's competitive position.
