Vol. 230 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Overcharging of Tourists.

19.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will make a statement in regard to the complaints of tourists who felt they had been greatly overcharged while on holidays in this country; if he has had inquiries made; and what action he proposes to take.

All complaints made to Bord Fáilte by tourists are investigated by the Board. Where it is established that tourists have been charged prices in excess of those quoted in the Bord Fáilte Official Guide to Hotels, Guesthouses, etc., the Board arrange for refunds of the appropriate amounts.

Where complaints are received against establishments outside the control of Bord Fáilte, these complaints are conveyed through the Regional Tourism Organisations to the interests concerned. In such cases, Bord Fáilte and the Regional Organisations endeavour to have the matter remedied.
