Vol. 230 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Briquettes.

129.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce why he has allowed Bord na Móna to increase the price of briquettes by £1 per ton.

I assume that the Deputy refers to loose briquettes sold on the domestic market.

Bord na Móna suspended the sale of loose briquettes for household use in September, 1965, as the selling price was uneconomic. They proposed to resume these sales earlier this year and I agreed to an increase in price of £1 per ton. This increase was to offset increased costs incurred by Bord na Móna.
