Vol. 230 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of County Dublin Industry.

136.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the prospects, if any, of an industry to replace the Pye industry at Dundrum, County Dublin, and to provide alternative employment for those who lost their jobs there.

I understand that the Pye industry at Dundrum has been reorganised on a basis that has left a factory premises vacant, but that there has been no overall reduction in activity or employment.

There may be seasonal fluctuations in particular lines which may cause changes in the employment composition and I am informed that, in fact, additional female workers are now being sought by the firm.

There is not, of course, and there has not been any question of a close down by the Pye industry at Dundrum.
